This Crane Says Ciao to Italy
Our “crane mail” campaign is off and flying, and this past week was especially exciting! Our Maryville Lions Club had asked the Milano Borromeo Lions Club to deliver one of our cranes to the memorial statue of Ernest Teodoro Moneta — the first Italian Nobel Prize for Peace Recipient in 1907. His monument is in the center of Milan, Italy. Last week we received confirmation our crane had been delivered. This video captured the moment:
Even more exciting was that our fellow Lions delivered the crane on June 2nd 2016, a significant date because it was the 70th Anniversary of the constitution of the Italian Republic, a referendum (Monarchy vs Republic) where Italian women voted for the first time. Thank you, Milano Borromeo Lions Club for helping us spread peace and dignity around the world! We hope you will add your mark to the remaining cranes and continue sending wishes of peace around the world.
