The ribbon cutting ceremony for the Blount Inclusive Playground at John Sevier Park was a long time coming but a grand success as Phase 1 of this Inclusive playground where children of all ages and abilities can play together. It was such a pleasure to see many children with disabilities enjoying the playground along with their friends. Wheelchairs were able to go up ramps so children could reach some of the various tactile features etc.
A huge thank you to Lions Clubs International, Arconic, East TN Lions Eye Bank and Steve and Ruth West (our major donors) along with the City of Maryville and Alcoa, Blount, Maryville Parks and Rec Commission for helping make this playground come alive. And, thanks to the Maryville Lions who were instrumental in the grant writing and funding requests for this project.
We hope the community enjoys this new playground for a very long time – it was our honor and pleasure to be part of the project.
