Maryville Lions Club Check Presentation for Blount Inclusive Playground
Thanks to a Lions Clubs International Foundation matching grant of $100,000 and local matching funds totaling more than $100,000, 2 years of planning and fundraising will finally make Phase 1 of the Blount Inclusive Playground come to life at John Sevier Park in Maryville. Local matching funds include donations from East Tennessee Lions Eye Bank, West Chevrolet, Arconic, Atmos Energy and many others. Pictured below, District 12N Treasurer Chuck Bailey of the Maryville Lions Club presents a $201,248.95 check to Will Hubbs of the Maryville-Alcoa-Blount County Parks and Recreation Commission who will oversee delivery and installation of the Playground. Delivery of the playground equipment is scheduled for mid-May followed by 6 weeks of installation. The ribbon cutting, dedication and grand opening is scheduled prior to the end of June. When dedicated, the name of the playground will be “John Sevier Inclusive Playground”. A big thank you to all who helped make this happen.
Phase 1 of the playground is geared towards children 5-12, however younger children are still welcome. Stay tuned for more information on Phase 2 of the playground which will be geared toward younger children, encompass fencing and other amenities.
